Programme Description - The Faculty provides the listed courses:
- Certificate in Information Technology
The Certificate in Information Technology programme introduces students with no background in IT to the field. Students will be presented with a solid foundation necessary for further study in the field of IT. The programme also provide students with an elementary knowledge in IT, information sciences and computer sciences.
On completion of the programme, students will become familiar with current technologies and tools while being exposed to new and innovative ways of approaching a variety of technical problems and issues. Additionally, students will learn to work in multi-vendor environment, analyze and evaluate organizational systems and processes to recommend software solutions to meet an organization’s needs and goals. They will also develop the basic skills and knowledge required of an information technology professional and gain basic understanding of information technology including hardware, software, communication, planning, analysis, design, implementation, and support.
- Bachelor of Science in Information Technology
This programme is designed to equip students for a professional career in IT as a Software Engineer or System Services Specialist. The programme also aims to provide sufficient theoretical grounding and professional development skills to facilitate adaptation to changing technology. Students can specialize in core areas such as software engineering, systems services, database administration, and Internet or multimedia technologies.
- Bachelor of Science in Informatics
This programme prepares students to meet the increasing demand for information technology professionals. The curriculum combines knowledge of a specific subject area with the concepts in Informatics that will help them adapt to technological changes throughout their careers. It educates students on the underlying science of information and information technology and explores their human implications.
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering
This programme aims to provide a broad based education in computer science that exposes students to the areas of software engineering, computer architecture, theoretical computer science, systems, and communications and database management systems. Thus, the programme would enable graduates to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to meet the growing needs of the country for trained manpower in Information Technology for industries, business, research and educational institutions.
- Bachelor of Science in Mobile Internet Communication
This programme is designed to provide students with the technical prerequisites in the key fields related to mobile communications and internet technology. It will examine present and future standards; network architectures; basic technologies; and special key technologies in the field of MIC. Students will acquire a sound technical base and skill which will enable them to successfully participate in the technological development in mobile radio and internet. The programme targets designers of wireless systems and networks; engineers involved with strategy and planning for present and future wireless systems and networks; and also technical managers who want to make the right technological and industrial decisions. In addition, the programme targets companies involved in equipment and product manufacturing; development of new services; and development of new applications exploiting the services provided by wireless networks.
