Grant Development Process (7 Steps)
Step 1 – Discuss research/project idea with Dean/Head of Department. This is to ensure their approval and support of the research/ project
Step 2 – Obtain Grants Request Form. This form is available on this website under the section ‘Forms’. The form must be filled and approved by the dean/head of department.
Step 3 – Submit form to ORS – The approved form is submitted to ORS who will seek the Vice President’s approval. ORS discusses funding opportunities and the proposal with the principal investigator.
Step 4 – Develop proposal – The principal investigator (PI) develops the proposal in consultation with ORS. The proposal must be approved by the dean/head of department. [Proposal Development Guide – can be obtained from ORS]
Step 5 – Submit proposal to ORS – the principal investigator sends the approved proposal to the Office of Research Services for review.
Step 6 – Obtain Approval for proposal – This is done by ORS from the Office of the Vice President.
Step 7 – Proposal is submitted – ORS submits the proposal and informs the principal investigator and the vice president of receipt by the funding agency.
