| The Faculty of Informatics of GTUC was established in August 2006 and is located at the university’s main campus at Tesano. Its mission is to give students an opportunity to study information technology from various perspectives including information science, computer science, management science, and behavioral and communication theories. Graduates of the informatics programme will be qualified for jobs not only in the information technology industry but also in business, public services, academia, research, banking and various other professions.
The programmes of the Faculty focus on the application and management of information and communication technology and are taught using a hands-on, realty-based approach to education. These programmes are project-focused:
- Training students in the study of computer systems and their applications.
- Developing students to process data
- Training students to use various algorithms and information structures
Students of the Faculty gain knowledge on contemporary programming languages, telecommunication, operating systems, networking, database systems and systems security, amongst others.
Graduates of the informatics programme are equipped with skills and attributes needed for professional practice and leadership. This qualifies them for jobs not only in the information technology industry but also in business, public services, academia, research, banking and various other professions.
