Dr. P.K. Ashilevi is the Dean of the Faculty of Telecom Engineering . He holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree (Ph.D) in Telecommunications Engineering from the St. Petersburg State University of Telecommunications, St. Petersburg, Russia in 2000, Masters degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the then Bonch – Bruevitch Institute of Telecommunications in 1987 and a Bachelor’s degree in Marine Communications and Electronic Navigation from the Tallinn Marine College, Tallinn, Estonia in 1984.
Before his relocation to Ghana in 1990, Dr. Ashilevi worked as a teaching/ research assistant at the State University of Telecommunications, Engineer, Minicom Telecom services, IVC Telecom and Computer Systems, North West GSM Mobile Company, St. Petersburg.
He has been involved in research in the areas of space technologies, mobile and satellite technologies, renewable energy resources, fuel cell technology, nanotechnology, amongst others.
Dr Ashilievi has also consulted widely in the areas of Telecommunications and ICT , and has planned and designed wireless and computer, fiber optic networks and electronic navigation systems.
Prior to his current appointment in April 2007, he was a Senior Lecturer and the Head of Department of Electricals and Electronics at the Regional Maritime University ( a branch of the World Maritime University – Malmo, Sweden).
Dr. Ashilevi is deeply committed to technology education. He was instrumental in the setting up of the Engineering Faculty of the Regent University College of Technology and was appointed as the first Dean of that Faculty with the rank of an Associate Professor. He is an External Examiner for the National Board for Technical Examinations (NABTEX) and a lead programmes assessor for the National Accreditation Board.
He has over ten(10) publications in peer-reviewed journals, given several oral presentations, written a book on telecommunications and done fundamental research in the multi purpose use of Low Orbit Satellites (patent pending) amongst others.
Married with three(3) children, his hobbies include watching and playing football, music dancing, and international affairs. He is multilingual and speaks English, French, Russian, Ewe, Fante, Twi, and Ga.
